Questions

Frequently asked questions

Plain answers, including the parts other services leave out: what we do not do, where software is involved, and when you get your money back.

Is the Answer the right document for me?
If you have been sued and have not filed an Answer yet, the Answer is the document you need. If a default judgment has already been entered against you, or your wages are being garnished, you need a different filing first — the Default Judgment Rescue Kit covers that situation. If you have already filed an Answer in this case, you do not need this.
Is there a filing fee?
Usually. Most courts charge a fee to accept an Answer, and that money goes to the court, not to us. Amounts vary by court and change over time, so we show what is typical for your state and court type and tell you to confirm the exact number with the clerk. If you cannot afford it, your state's fee-waiver form is named in your kit along with how to ask the court to waive the fee.
What if I already missed the deadline?
File anyway, right away. Many courts still accept a late Answer if no default judgment has been entered yet. We cannot tell you how your judge will treat it, and we cannot promise it will be accepted. Call the clerk today, ask whether a default has already been entered, and file as soon as you can.
How fast do I get my documents?
Immediately. You answer the questions and your documents generate on the spot in editable Word and print-ready PDF — nobody waits on us. If you add the upload option at checkout, a person also checks your packet for completeness and formatting, and that comes back typically within one business day.
Do you file it for me?
No. We show you exactly where your Answer goes, how many copies to bring or send, what the fee usually is and how to ask for a waiver, and how to confirm the clerk received it. You are the one who files it, which is what keeps you in control of your own case.
Do you serve the other side for me?
No. We walk you through who to send your copy to, what to include, how to send it, and how to prove it was done — including the certificate of service that goes with your filing. You send it yourself.
Can I see a sample before I buy?
Yes. There is a watermarked sample Answer you can open without paying, so you can see exactly what the documents look like before you spend anything.
Are you attorneys?
No. Make Them Prove It is a self-help education and document preparation service staffed by non-attorneys. Nothing here is legal advice and no attorney-client relationship is created. We do not choose your defenses for you, tell you whether to settle, or predict what a judge will do. If you can get a lawyer or free legal aid, that is usually the better path.
Is AI involved, and can it get things wrong?
Yes, and here is exactly where. Software drafts your documents from the answers you type in, and on the upload option it reads what is printed on the papers you send us. Software can misread a page. That is why a person checks the upload option before anything is sent back, why every field it fills in is a suggestion for you to confirm, and why every read-out tells you to compare it against your own papers. Your papers win any disagreement.
Can I get a refund?
There is one exception to our all-sales-final policy: if we cannot produce an Answer for your court, email support@provethedebt.com and we will refund you in full. Otherwise all sales are final, because everything is delivered to you the moment you buy it. Not sure a kit fits your situation? Email us before you buy and we will tell you honestly.
Do I have to create an account?
No. Your answers stay on your own device while you work, and your documents download straight to you. Your purchase comes with a private access link sent to your email.
What happens to documents I upload?
They go into private storage that only our staff can open, they are never shared or sold, and they are deleted after the retention window described in our Privacy Policy.

Educational information and document preparation only. Make Them Prove It is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. Rules and deadlines differ by state and by court, so confirm them with your court clerk or a licensed attorney in your state.

Why Make Them Prove It

You are responding to a lawsuit yourself. Here is what that actually gets you, and what we will not pretend to be.

Software drafts it, a person checks it

Your answers go in and a formatted Answer, a response to every numbered paragraph, and a filing guide come out in minutes. Add the upload option and a real person then checks your packet for completeness and formatting before you file.

Checked by trained non-attorney staff. Not attorney review, not legal advice.

One flat price, no subscription

Attorneys commonly bill by the hour. This is paid once, everything included, nothing recurring, no account to cancel later.

If you can get a lawyer or free legal aid, do that first — this is built for people who can't.

If we can't produce an Answer for your court, you get a refund

A few courts don't take a written Answer at all and want you to appear instead. If yours is one we cannot produce a document for, email us and we refund you in full.

Otherwise all sales are final, because everything is delivered the moment you buy.
